Description
The SSI Dive Guide course gives you the skills and experience to lead groups of certified divers safely and is the first step towards a career as an SSI Dive Professional.
Once you have successfully completed the certification, you'll be able to work for SSI Dive Centres throughout the world in a variety of environments, leading divers safely, inspiring them and have a deep knowledge of diving.
Structure
The SSI Dive Guide course teaches you to be a leader who can supervise scuba diving activities. Our SSI Dive Guide course runs more like an internship, allowing you to complete the course at a pace that suits you and get far more experience than an 'intensive' course, making you a better guide.
There will be knowledge development sessions, water skills exercises and hands-on practical assessments. Topics and assessments include:
- Supervising dive activities and assisting student divers
- Dive setup and management
- Mapping an open water dive site
- Conducting dive briefings
- Assisting instructors
- Awareness of our dive environments
- Diver safety and risk management
You will attend our pool sessions and open water sessions for all of our courses as well as a number of other training sessions that are just for our dive guides and instructors.
