Great conditions again this week, definitely the best time all year form Scuba diving in South Wales, weather is sunny fine and warm, Sea temperatures are rising up to a comfortable 14 degrees, the wind is light and offshore and the best part the visibility is up to 8 meters in parts of the coast.

The perfect conditions to train to become a Scuba Diver in the UK with the PADI Open Water Diver certification allowing you to dive up to 18 meters globally. Also the PADI Open Water diver Advanced course will allow our divers up to 30 meters to get even more pleasure from the sea.

Over the past few weeks the weather and the wind has been amazing, beautiful sunny days and light offshore winds, unfortunately all that has changed today. High winds and big swells have blown out the Scuba Diving sites in Cardiff, Swansea, Porthcawl, Aberavon and up to Stackpole Quay. Visibility will be minimal and surf conditions will make entrances and exits treacherous.

We have recently completed the PADI Open Water Diver course and the PADI Open Water Advanced Diver course with students from Cardiff University. The students are now ready for their placements in the Nature reserve in the Medes Islands in Spain, a project we established 5 years ago and still going strong. So good look to all the students as they continue their Scuba diving careers.

Last few days have been calm and good weather but wind is picking up which will affect the diving conditions and the visability. May be a possibility of diving towards Stackpole Quay and definitely into West Wales. All dive site close to Cardiff, Swansea, Newport will be affected by the high winds, especially over the weekend, sea calming in the week but visibility will be down.

SWELL - The surf and swell is again varied through the week, generally we have a 3-5 foot swell but with varied winds which could mess up the conditions. Generally consistent swell but winds making conditions hard to predict, may be better to head to the sheltered beaches

The wind has increased and so has the swell so scuba diving in the areas around Newport, Cardiff, Porthcawl and Swansea and definately not good for access or egress or visability. Again this would be better found on the inland sites further East.

We are in full progress running the PADI Open Water Diver programme at the moment with students from Cardiff University heading out for the placements in the summer. The students will be part of an on going research project on the Medes Islands Nature reserve in L'Estartit Spain.

There is a possibility of getting in the water over the next couple of days, the swell and winds are dropping around the coastlines of Cardiff, Swansea, Stackpole, Camarthen so exit and entrance may be plausible to scuba dive from safe sites. Visability however is low due to recent swells and high winds so again inland may be the better option for the hardy UK scuba diver.

Our PADI Open Water Courses and Advanced Open Water Courses are in full flow with students now preparing for the Open water dive sections of the course. The dates will be into May and June initially for the qualifying dives, taking PADI Open Water Referral Diver students to their next step to becoming fully qualified divers.

Big swell, big wind and stormy sea conditions will make diving in the local areas of Cardiff, Swansea, Aberavon, and Stackpole very hard over the next few days, especially with gale force winds on Sunday. Definately a time to head inland to the calmer sites not affected by the stormy sea conditions.

Huge weekend of diving last week with 28 students completing the PADI Open Water Diver Course and training for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course. All students successfully have completed the referral section and now head for the four Open Water qualifying Scuba Dives.

The conditions are not good again this week, the swell and surf are big throughout the week inshore creating poor and dangerous conditions. Diving in the areas around Cardiff and Swansea are very reliant on the tides, wind and subsequantly swell and they are definitely not suitable for diving this week.

We have a full PADI Scuba Diving programme on Saturday with the PADI Open Water Referral Scuba diving course in the swimming pool in Hebron Hall in Cardiff, we have students from Swansea and even Somerset as well. A busy programme with students completing the PADI Open water course and the PADI Discover Scuba.

The Sea conditions as through out the winter have not been good around the coastline of Newport, Cardiff, Porthcawl, Aberavon, Swansea and Llanelli, the swells and big, sea state rough, visibility low, and all round bad conditions for Scuba diving and snorkelling.

Now the weather were hopefully start to change for the better, with lighter winds and sunnier longer days, we are still running all the PADI courses in the system including PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Advanced Open water Diver, PADI Rescue Diver and PADI Divemaster as well as the usual specialities, the courses are run through out the year in preparation for the diving season or diving abroad.
