WIND -  Moderate to strong winds over the next couple of days up to 21 mph Easterlies on Friday and dropping back on Saturday to 15 mph Westerlies. Back up again on Sunday to 20 mph Westerlies and then dropping to more moderate 10 - 12 mph in various directions
SEA STATE and SWELL -  Inshore on Friday and Saturday should be quite calm with small swells and offshore winds on Friday but turning onshore on Saturday. SCUBA DIVING WALES, SOUTH WALES CARDIFF, SWANSEA, LLANELLI, CARMARTHENSHIRE - There should be good access to certain dive sites this week depending on the wind direction as there are strong Easterly winds today and strong winds tomorrow. The weather is good and the swell is small tomorrow so may get better scuba diving conditions on Saturday. As the swell and the wind pick up conditions will change making harder diving conditions. As always diving will be better on the incoming tides in most areas.

PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver courses - The better level of diver is the rescue diver qualification for the dives in the UK. With big tides, strong currents, surf, swells and limited visibility at times, then the more competent diver the safer diver with these conditions. We are running all courses in the PADI System for all levels of divers to gain competency and ability to dive off the shores of the UK and the Welsh coastline.

SCUBA DIVING SOUTH WALES CARDIFF, SWANSEA, LLANELLI, CARMARTHENSHIRE - Possibly good conditions for diving on the South Wales coastline this week with Easterly offshore winds and smaller swells especially in protected areas of the coast such as Limeslade Bay Swansea, Oxwich bay Swansea and up to Stackpole Quay in Carmarthenshire. Possible severe weather coming in on Sunday but temperatures picking up and Sea Temperatures looking good at 14 degrees and rising. Marine life should be out to play with Doplhins and Seals spotted playing in the inshore bays. We are running the PADI Open Water Diver course through out the year in the Cardiff, Swansea, Newport areas, to get people up to the level to be able to dive anywhere in the world up to 18 meters and progressing with the Advanced Open Water Diver and beyond.

Weather has definitely turned for the worse over the past few days and will continue into next week. High winds and heavy rain will affect all areas along the South Wales coast for Scuba Diving with entrance and exit conditions becoming harder and possible unsafe in certain areas. Visibility will also be lacking after the wind, swell and rainfall . The better option would be to head inland to the protected scuba diving sites which are far more protected from the elements and visability will be better. We are running the PADI Open Water Diver programme accross the South Wales region and have several students now ready to go onto complete the four Open Water Qualifying dives for the full PADI Open Water Diver Certification. This will be held either on the coast if conditions are suitable or inland at dedicated diving facilities.

The weather has been consistently dry over the past few days and winds light, however the winds are getting stronger through the week and the swell bigger. This will cause rough conditions inshore for diving areas especially on the South Wales coast and also effect the visibility at all diving locations. The weather and the wind conditions look good at the moment for Westerly facing sites, the only issue may be the swell which is consistent 2 - 5 feet. The visibility will be minimal and inshore conditions not the best. May be accessible in some very protected areas such as Stackpole Quay in Camarthenshire. Local Cardiff and Swansea sites may have too much swell to work.

We are running the PADI Open Water Diver Course this weekend at Hebron Hall on the outskirts of Cardiff. Students from accross South Wales will be heading to the confined Water training session to complete the PADI course. We are also running the PADI Divemaster course as part of the continuing educational programme.

There has been a constant swell all week around the coastline of Wales, this will affect the visability of all diving locations. This week the swell is lower up until Wednesday when the wind and the swell is picking up significantly. Entrance and exit points are acceptable on the sheltered beaches such as Limeslade bay in Swansea up until the wind and swell increase by the middle of the week, so best conditions are the weekend and the beginning of the week. We have our comprehensive PADI Open Water Course systems running and the pool session is being held in Hebron Hall in Dinas Powys. The next pool session for the course is to be held on 11th May 2019.

The wind has been predominately Easterly giving good calm conditions to Westerly facing beaches and entrance points such as Limeslade bay in Swansea and Stackpole Quay. Easterly beaches will get the brunt of the bad conditions. Also consistent swell throughout the region fitting the Westerly beaches unless completely protected. Would have to enter on the high tide on the incoming tides 2-3 hours after the low incoming water. Levels of ability unless under training should be PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Rescue diver or above with sufficient coastal knowledge of diving in the South Wales waters,

Again the scuba diving conditions are not looking good for the coastlines of South Wales, big swells and strong winds have dropped the visibility to a minimum. Conditions are looking very good for the next few days, light winds, calm seas, afternoon tides, little swell so the perfect conditions for scuba diving in the South Wales region. All sites close to Cardiff, Swansea, Llanelli and Stackpole Quay should be working well, maybe changing on Wednesday when the winds start picking up.

This is the time to use the PADI Open Water Diver qualification to sample sea diving at its best in the UK. For those more adventureous then the PADI Advanced Open Water course may be more suitable.
